Seahawks and Weiners!

Living in the Seattle area, many locals have a love/hate relationship with the Seahawks football team. But when you combine Seahawks  AND Weiners? All LOVE, baby!

This is video of weinerdog races during halftime at a Seahawks game last fall. Love how in “heat 2” one of the dogs takes off…maybe to the concession stands?

Enjoy!

Do you live in a dog friendly city?

I certainly wasn’t surprised to learn that Seattle was considered a top 10 dog friendly city. Because in Seattle, you can:

While all dogs can’t be as lucky as mine to live near Seattle, nine other cities apparently do a pretty good job at being a dog friendly city, as well.

Is your city listed in the infographic below? If not, tell me what dog friendly city you live in – I’d love to hear all about it!

Slobberfest – oh so slobbery and adorable

This Sunday, September 30th, the Bulldog Club of Greater Seattle and the Cascade Bulldog Rescue held their annual Slobberfest festivities at Marymoor Park to celebrate everything bulldog. There was tons of information available on how to be a good bulldog parent, including info on training and showing, for the specific needs of a bulldog.

And now for your enjoyment, pictures of the squishy, smiley, drooly, and adorable faces of some of the bulldog (and French bulldog) guests.

Pit Bulls on parade

Yesterday I dropped by a fun adoption event called Pit Bulls on Parade, presented by Bullseye Dog Rescue and held at Issaquah, Washington’s Riverdog Canine Coaching.

And while I didn’t particularly see any parading Pit Bulls, nor any Pit Bulls in cute red wagons like in the picture above, I saw some of the sweetest dogs around. Dogs that get a bad rap. Dogs that need our help to stand up against BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) that bans Pit Bulls just because of their incorrectly perceived temperament .

ban stupid people not dogs1 300x154 Pit Bulls on parade

Pit Bulls are not bad dogs. No dog is inherently bad. People? People can train dogs to do bad things. People can be intentionally stupid. So, as the graphic shows above, if anything were to be banned, it should be the stupid people and not any breed of dog. Now that is legislation I can get behind!

End of rant and on to the pictures!

I’m a sucker for a dog in a tutu, what can I say.

Such a demure girl in the shade.

This Pit must have been parading, because he was tired and had to lay down to take a break.

Someone needed to tell this guy they had shave ice for pups over by the swimmy pools.

And speaking of swimmy pools – this Pit sure knew how to splash up some waves!

So many happy faces on the Pit Bulls I saw…it’s like they knew the party was in their honor!

And lastly, a Standard Poodle with pink hair rocking a “Honorary Pit Bull” shirt. Way to show support!

Walking for the Animals – Go, Team DogSplendor!

DogSplendor is SO excited to be heading up a team for this year’s Seattle Humane Society’s Walk for the Animals. The walk takes place on Sunday, September 23rd, at University Village in Seattle, with FidoFest at the same location immediately afterwards.

Here is how YOU can help:

1) Join us!  Click here to join the DogSplendor walk team.

2) Consider making a donation of any size to help shelter dogs that aren’t as fortunate as your own. Your donation can help fund the important life-saving programs at Seattle Humane including community services like the Pet Food Bank for older and low income families, dog training classes, the Visiting Pet Friends program where animals and volunteers visit convalescent homes, educational programs, and free or low cost spay and neuter programs for the community.

Thank you in advance for your help with this important cause!
